Prevent Burrowing Animals

An illustration showing an L-shaped barrier to prevent animals from entering under structures, with a skunk for context.

You can protect homes, sheds, storage areas and portable classrooms from burrowing animals (such as skunks and opposums) by digging a trench and attaching ½” hardware cloth 12 inches below ground and 12 inches horizontally from wall or foundation. Installed properly, this will create a barrier through which they cannot pass.
